The following are the economic highlights of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) 2026-2030 which was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament today, with the theme “Melakar Semua Pembangunan” (Redesigning Development).

The construction sector’s prospects are looking up on the back of Malaysia successfully positioning itself as a key player in the data centre (DC) market, coupled with the anticipated rollout of government-initiated mega infrastructure projects.

The outlook for Malaysia’s construction industry is expected to improve further entering the second half of 2024 (2H24).

The country’s three main economic sectors, namely manufacturing, construction and agriculture that have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, have gradually recovered, said Minister.

Concerns over the country’s high indebtedness could take a backseat for the time being, as the focus shifts to moving the economy back on the growth path following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has allocated RM70 million for the implementation of several strategic programmes to assist players in the construction industry.
